The technology automatically checks for any noise leakage between the earbud and the user's ear canal, and then applies more noise cancellation to compensate, ensuring the best possible noise-cancelling experience, regardless of the environment.

The Ear (a) also comes equipped with Clear Voice Technology, which isolates the user's voice from everyday distractions, making on-the-go calls feel like face-to-face conversations. With a new talk mic and an extra airway on the stem to allow wind to pass through, the Ear (a) has reduced interference by 60% compared to the Ear (2).

In terms of battery life, the Ear (a) can Fast Charge for 10 minutes, providing 10 hours of music playback with ANC turned off. Compared to the Ear (2), the Ear (a) offers a 40.5% increase in non-stop play time on a single charge, and can deliver over 42.5 hours of total listening time with the charging case (with ANC turned off).

The Ear (a) offers additional performance features, including a Low Lag mode for better gaming, triggered automatically in Game Mode on a Nothing phone. With an end-to-end latency of less than 120 ms, the earbuds can also stay connected to two devices simultaneously, allowing users to seamlessly switch between music playback on a laptop and answering a call on their phone.

The Ear (a) also features Adaptive ANC, which allows users to switch between three levels of noise cancellation or let the earbuds automatically adjust the level based on the user's surroundings in real-time.

Notably, the Ear (a) integrates with ChatGPT, a first-of-its-kind feature for earbuds. Users can ask, listen, and learn from ChatGPT on-the-go, using their voice to access the AI assistant through the Nothing X app. This integration allows users to get the answers they need faster and at their fingertips, whether through text, voice, or image search, directly from their home screen (when connected to a Nothing phone).
